About us

Inspired by the Great Sakya Monlams in India, Tsechen Foundation (based in Belgium, Switzerland, France and Holland) developed the wish to hold an annual Sakya Monlam in Europe. With the blessings of both His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen and His Holiness 42^nd Sakya Trizin and the support of the Great Sakya Monlam Foundation, India, representatives of all the Sakya Lineage Centers in Europe met and decided to establish a European Sakya Monlam Foundation based upon similar inspiration and motivation as the Great Sakya Monlam Foundation in India.

Tha main objective of the European Sakya Monlam Foundation is to hold monlams (recitations of aspiration prayers) and plant the seed of universal love and compassion by promoting the preservation, presentation and practice of Lord Buddha’s teaching according to the Sakya Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

The European Sakya Monlam Foundation will also provide a framework for exchanges between Buddhist communities and traditions in Europe and to promote the intergration of Buddhism into society. The European Sakya Monlam will be held in a different city in Europe each year.

The members of the European Sakya Monlam Foundation are centers and groups who follow the Sakya Buddhist tradition.
