Dear Sakya Dharma Centres of Europe,
23 June 2021 Dear Sakya Dharma Centres of Europe,Three years ago, in June 2018, in Kuttolsheim, France, we held the first meeting to establish a European Sakya Monlam. The first meeting was attended by representatives of Sakya Dharma centres across Europe, together with a representative of the Great Sakya Monlam Foundation in India.
It was agreed at the meeting in June 2018 that the European Sakya Monlam Foundation would be established, with the aspiration, through practising the Buddhadharma, of benefitting all sentient beings at a time when many destructive forces fill the world and cause great suffering for beings.
In August 2019, we held the historic first European Sakya Monlam in Antwerp, Belgium, attended by His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche, together with many other rinpoches, khenpos, lamas, monks, nuns, Buddhist practitioners and non-Buddhists from across Europe. The first European SakyaMonlam was a deeply inspiring event attended by important figures within the Sakya tradition. Great efforts were made by very many people to create a beautiful event.
It is hoped that the next European Sakya Monlam can be held in Paris, once restrictions prohibiting such joyful activities are lifted.
Since three years have now passed since the first meeting to establish the European Sakya Monlam Foundation, we warmly invite a representative of each Sakya dharma centre in Europe to join a Zoommeeting on 17 July 2021
-To discuss the election of the new board members for the next three years (according to the statutes the board members have to be elected each three years)
-preparation for future European Sakya Monlams, to discuss how all centres of Europe can work together to assist with the preparation of future European Sakya Monlams.
His Holinee 42nd Sakya Trizin Ratna Vajra will bless us and will address the meeting . The meeting will be also attended the by a representative of the Great Sakya Monlam Foundation in India . We are keen to support the wishes of our lamas that the Sakya Dharma Centres of Europe can seek to work together harmoniously to support the activity of European Sakya Monlams. We hope that the meeting in July will assist with this objective.
An agenda and further details will be circulated nearer to the time. In the meantime, please reply to this email to confirm the name of the representative that will attend on behalf of your centre, so thatwe can accommodate you. We will then follow up with further details in advance of the meeting.
